Belgium surprised and defeated Dominican Republic

 

Celebration of Belgium agaisnt Dominican Republic

Belgium achieved a dream start beating Dominican Republic in four sets (25-17, 25-15, 16-25, 25-19) in the first game of the pool C at the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U18 World Championship on Friday at Miguel Grau Coliseum

Belgium took advantage in the blocking category 12-2 and dominated also in aces 6-2.

Herbots Britt, Belgium spiker, was the top scorer of the match with 22 points including 19 attacks and two services. Massiel Matos finished with 20 points in the losing effort.

Belgium smoothly dominated the first two sets showing aggressive service and solid blocking; Dominican Republic was surprised and made many mistakes in reception. Guided by a spectacular performance of the Herbots Britt , "Yellow Tigers" won the first two sets by 25-17 and 25-15.

In the third set Dominican’s opposite Massiel Matos took control of the game and with powerful attacks leaded his squad to a change of attitude and they won the third set by 25-16.

Dominican Republic tried to keep pushing but Belgium recovered concentration and with a combination of subtlety and strength closed the match by winning the fourth set 25-19.
