Brazil overcomes Belgium for eleventh place

 

Callao, Peru, August 16, 2015 – Brazil outplayed Belgium in four sets (25-17, 20-25, 25-20, 25-17) in the match for eleventh place at the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U18 World Championship at Miguel Grau Coliseum on Sunday.

Brazil led in the attacks 58-46 but also gave away 17 points via unforced errors, 8 less than Belgium.

Nyeme Alexandre contributed with 19 points in the victory while Beatriz Carvalho added 16. Britt Herbots topped Belgium with 24 points and was the best scorer of the game.

At the start of the match Brazil dominated thanks to a successful distribution of their setter Jackeline Moreno, the South Americans lead the score in the first set (8-7, 16-13) and closed 25-17.

Belgium controlled the second set, with a right work of their serves which highlighted their captain Charlotte Coppin, the Europeans tied the game by winning the second set 25-20.

Belgium took control of the third set by 8-5, 16-14 and 18-16, However an impressive comeback of Brazil changed the score 23-18 an then 25-20.

The fourth set was a total domination of Brazilian spikers Beatriz Carvalho and Nyeme Alexandre . The South Americans closed their participation in the tournament winning 25-17.
