Chinese Taipei overcomes Cuba for nineteenth place

 

Callao, Peru, August 15, 2015 – Chinese Taipei edged Cuba in four sets 3-1 (25-20, 25-14, 15-25, 33-31) in the match for the nineteenth place at the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U18 World Championship at Miguel Grau Coliseum on Saturday.

Chinese Taipei led in attacks 47-45 and also in aces 14-10. The winners made 24 unforced errors, three less than Cuba.

Ling Chang contributed 18 points in the victory while Chieh Chen and Yu Huang added 17 and 12 points, respectively. Kitania Medina topped Cuba with 17 points.

Chinese Taipei pressed from the beginning of the game with a strong service and took advantage of the mistakes made by Cuba in reception to closed the first and second set by 25-20 and 25-14 respectively  .

In the third set, Cuba showed a completely different performance; the opposite Kitania Medina led her team and The Caribbean closed 25 -15. The final set had a dramatic definition, Cuba struggled to stay in the game, however, a mistake from their captain, Diaris Perez, in the attack closed the set for Chinese Taipei by 33-31.
