Egypt edged Mexico in four sets

 

Callao, Peru, August 15, 2015 – Egypt defeated a resilient Mexico 3-1 (25-20,17-25,25-21, 25-23 ) on Saturday advancing to the definition for the thirteen place of the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U18 World Championship at Miguel Grau Coliseum.

Mariam Morsy and Maya Ahmed were the more offensive weapons for the Egyptian side with 19 points each one. Kathya Garcia was the topped scorer for Mexico with 11.

The Africans topped their opponents in attacks (44-38), blocks (11-7) and service winners (9-7). Mexico made 28 unforced errors and the winners 37.

Africa´s team led at the start of the game 8-3, but Mexico took control of the second technical time out by 16-14. Egypt´s Nada Meawad had the power to change history and win the first set 25-20.

Mexico shared command throughout the second set thanks to the successful work of their spikers. Thanks to an attack of their captain Karina Flores closed the second set 25-17.

The third set was a lot more fought, the service of the Africans worked in the most difficult times and they won the third set 25-21.

The final set was even more dramatic, Egypt led at the start, but Mexico recovered and came close to forcing a definition set. Finally an accurate block of Egypt´s Marian Morsy in the middle of the net close the set 25 - 23 and the game by 3-1.
