Germany raise the wall against China

Germany recorded 15 blocks in the victory over China

Lima, Peru, August 10, 2015 – The more solid block of Germany proved to be the key difference in the victory over China as the two teams engaged in the battle for first place in Pool B with one more match remaining in the preliminary round.

Jens Thietbohl, coach of Germany: I was confident about the work we have done during traing but I really didn’t expect to have such good match. For a German team to win against an Asian team is not an easy task, especially against China with their strong blocking and the excellent distribution around the court.

Pia Lewelin, captain of Germany: The joy we feel is so big because we didn’t expect to win in just four sets against such prepared rival like China. I still can’t believe it.

Shen Mang, coach of China: This match served a lot as a preparation and learning experience for our group. I think the German blocking was much better than ours. Now we need to go over the match to improve the things we need to.

Qian Jingwen, captain of China: I think my team didn’t do the things they know how. Our attack was weak and we made many errors. Now we have to recover and do things better tomorrow.
