Italy dominates Argentina to move to quarterfinals

 

Callao, Peru, August 13, 2015 – Italy blanked Argentina 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-23) advancing to the third step of the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U18 World Championship on Thursday at Callao.

Italia held the top hand in attacks 39-24 and block 5-3. The winners committed 23 unforced errors to 24 by the Argentines.

Paola Egonu of Italy topped the winners with 18 points, including fourteen attacks, two blocks and two aces, followed by Giulia Melli with 12 markers.

Argentina´s Calendaria Herrera was the best scorer of her team with 8 points. Argentina was nervous at the start of the game. Italia´s Paola Egonu showed her characteristic powerful and her team won an easily first set 25-16.

Alessia Orro, setter of Italy, trusted in Giullia Melli in the beginning of the set and this alternative was positive for her team. Argentina forced an aggressive service to be near in the score but The Europeans won the final set 25-21.
