Korea stop Egypt to improve to 3-1 in Pool A

Lima, Peru, August 10, 2015 – Korea defeated Egypt 3-0 (25-23, 25-13, 25-17) to finish with a 3-1 win-loss record in Pool A at the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U18 World Championship on Monday at Eduardo Dibos Coliseum of Lima.

Egypt descended to a 1-1 mark with one more match to play against Mexico on Tuesday.

Seoyeun Yoo collected 11 points as the best scorer for the winners. Seonjeong Lee and Sunah Jeon finished with 8 and 7, respectively.

Maya Ahmed and Mayar Mohamed had 13 and 11 points, respectively, in the losing effort.

Egypt held an advantage of 13-5 in the blocking category but committed 25 errors to 14 by Korea.

Egypt led 8-6 and 16-13 in the first set but Korea steadily climbed back. At 21-all, An Hyejin served an ace and Kim Juhyang followed with spike and block. Korea eventually won 25-23.

Once again Korea trailed at both pauses but managed to cut the deficit and claimed the second set with the attacks Seoyeun Yoo 25-23.

Korea dominated all the way in the third set 8-3 and 16-11 before wrapping up at 25-17.
