Korea sweep hosts Peru

 

Korea's Ko Minji attacks for the decisive point in the first set

Lima, Peru, August 15, 2015 – Korea defeated Peru 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-15) in a qualification match for the 13-to-16 positions at the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U18 World Championship on Saturday at Eduardo Dibos Coliseum of Lima.

The first two sets were played evenly by the two teams but the fighting attitude was not there from the Peruvian side after losing a second set they almost had in their hands.

An Hyejin and Seoyeun Yoo led Korea with 12 and 11 points, respectively, while Sunah Jeong added 10. Nicole Abreu and Katherine Regalado finished with 9 and 8 points for Peru.

It was a close battle in the first set won by Korea 25-23 with the spike by Ko Minji.

Peru was in front 23-20 in the second set but allowed Korea to come back with a few errors before Woo Sumin closed the set with two consecutive aces and the score 25-23.

The third set was dominated by the Korean side with a variety of hard spikes combined with soft touches. An Hyejin blasted her spike for the last point and the 25-15 score.
