Li Yingying carries China to victory over Poland

 

China's Li Yingying goes for one of her 24 points in the victory over Poland

Lima, Peru, August 11, 2015 – China’s Li Yingying recorded 24 points to lead the straight-set 3-0 (25-17, 30-28, 25-17) victory over Poland at the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U18 World Championship at Eduardo Dibos Coliseum of Lima on Tuesday.

The slender left-hander Chinese finished the preliminary phase of the competition with a leading-total of 91 points.

The victory gave China a 3-1 record good for second place in Pool B while Poland had to settle for a fourth place with a 1-3 mark.

Han Wu and Jingwen Qian contributed 12 and 8 points, respectively, in the win. Monika Fedusio led Poland with 12 points, followed by Oliwia Michalak, Aleksandra Rasinska and Paulina Swider with 10 apiece.

China committed only three errors in the first set they won 25-17 with 10 points from Li.

China was in front 16-11 in the second set but Poland came back to tie the score at 22-all. A tough battle was on until two consecutive spikes by Qian Jingwen gave China the set 30-28.

China was in command all the way throughout the third set and finished the match with point 24 from Li.
