Mexico get first victory in Pool A

 

Mexican team played with coordination in the victory over Chinese Taipei

Lima, Peru, August 10, 2015 – Mexico claimed their first victory and three valuable points in Pool A with a straight-set 3-0 (25-23, 25-15, 25-16) over Chinese Taipei at Eduardo Dibos Coliseum of Lima on Monday.

Kathya Garcia led the winners with 14 points and had the offensive help from Karla Mireles and Yerania Gutierrez, who contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively, in the victory.

Yu Chieh Chen and Ching Hsuan Huang each had 12 points in the losing cause.

Mexico scored 8 aces, including four by Karen Rivera, while Chinese Taipei collected seven. The winners made only 9 errors compared to 23 by the losers.

The first set was very close from the start until the end with Mexico leading 8-6 and 16-14 before closing at 25-23.

Chinese Taipei led 8-6 when teams arrived into the first TTO of the second but Mexico came back with strong offense to take a 16-11 lead. Two aces by Rivera helped to stretch the margin to 21-11 and the set concluded 25-15.

Mexico continued to dominate and led 8-6 and 16-10 in the third set and closed the match 25-16 with an unforced error by the opponents.
