Lima, Peru, August 13, 2015 – Poland entered into the quarterfinals of the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U18 World Championship with a dominant 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-17) victory over hosts Peru in front of a capacity crowd at Eduardo Dibos Coliseum of Lima on Thursday.
Aleksandra Rasinska contributed 17 points as the most prolific scorer of Poland while Oliwia Michalak and Paulina Swider each charted nine points in the victory. Leslie Leyva finished with 10 points for the Peruvian side.
Poland led in spikes 39-28, blocks 7-5 and aces 4-2 while committing 21 errors, four less than the 25 by Peru.
Poland led 8-5 and 16-11 in the first set but Peru threatened in the latter stages closing within one point at 23-22 before Poland clinched 25-22 with Rasinska as the main weapon.
In the second set, Poland was in front 8-5 and 16-13. Poland won nine of the next 13 points to close it 25-17 with a big spike by Michalak.
Once again Peru threatened in the third after trailing 8-5 and 16-12 but Poland resisted and 25-17 with the spike by Rasinska.
