Celebration of Turkey against Cuba

Callao, Peru, August 8, 2015 –Turkey defeated Cuba 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-14) on the second day of the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U18 World Championship at the Miguel Grau Coliseum in Callao on Saturday.

Tutku Burcu and Sallha Sahin were the main offensive weapons of Turkey with 9 points each one. Dairis Perez contributed 15 points in the losing effort. Turkish held margins of 10-2 and 12-1 in blocks and aces, respectively, and dominated in attacks 26-21. The winners made 13 unforced errors to 32 by the losers.

Turkey took advantage of the many Cubans unforced errors to win without problems the first set 25-14. In the start of the second set faults in Cuba’s reception continued, however thanks to the entry of their spiker Islen Castillo the team managed to a better order and played a better game, but their multiple errors at the net were their biggest problem and Turkey won the second set 25-14.

The third set was a copy of the first two, with a Turkish team playing with confidence and joy and an erratic and discouraged Cuban team. Turkey closed the match winning the third set with another 25-14.
