Turkey outclass Brazil in three sets

 

Callao, Peru, August 9, 2015 – Turkey did not give Brazil any breaks in route to a straight-set 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-22) victory in the first match of day of Pool D at the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U18 World Championship at Miguel Grau on Sunday.

Turkey held the advantage in aces category 11-4, while Brazil was better in attack 31-25 and block 10-7. The difference was the unforced errors Brazil made 32 while Turkey 21.

Turkish Saliha Sahin led the winners with 14 points, including three serving aces. She was followed by Tutku Burcu and Zehra Gunes with 8 and 6 points, respectively.

Brazil’s middle blocker Eduarda Cavatao topped her side with 11 points while Nyeme Alexander finished with 10 points in the loss.

With a strong service and powerful block Turkey took advantage 8-5 and 17-14; the coach of Brazil, Luiszomar de Moura changed some key players, and with Cassia Rauber, Amanda Rodriguez and Lorrayna Da Silva in the court, his team was near to surprise but Turkey remained concentrated to win the first set 25-23.

The history was a bit different at the beginning of the second set, Brazil risked it all from the service and took four points of advantage 14-10, however Turkey improve and changed the score 17-15, supported by an unstoppable Saliha Sahin won the set 25-21.

The third set had a similar start however Brazil made many unforced mistakes, Turkey showed more confidence and close the game winning the third set 25-22.
