Turkey to semifinals with victory over Poland

 

Callao, Peru, August 14, 2015 –Turkey advanced to the semifinals of the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U18 World Championship with an easy 3-0 (25-9, 25-15, 25-16) victory over Poland at Miguel Grau Coliseum on Friday.

Tutku Burcu Yuzgenc registered 14 points, including 11 attacks and 2 aces to lead the Turkish triumph. Saliha Sahin and Melis Kara Buse contributed 13 and 11 points in the victory. While Poland´s Oliwia Michalak led her team with 8 points.

Turkey held a 37-22 advantage in attacks, 11-3 in blocks and 10-2 in blocks, while Poland had 17 unforced errors, four more than the winners.

Turkey dominated the entire first set, with Saliha Sahin on service achieved a strong 8-0 lead and then 16-2. Many mistakes from Poland closed the set 25- 9.

Turkey continued to lead the game in the second set, Burcu Yuzgenc Tutku was again the main power force of her team, despite their mistakes, Turkey closed the second set 25 -15 with a powerful spike by the center of Yasemin Guveli.

Regardless of the difference in the score, the Polish team wanted to stay in the fight for a better result. However, Turkish power was crucial to led 8-4 and 16-10. Finally the closed the final set by 25-16 .
