‘We finally we got the win’ - Dominican Republic Captain

Callao, Peru, August 13, 2015 – The Caribbean clash was dominated by Dominican Republic after beating Cuba 3-1, in the first day of the second step of the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U18 World Championship at Miguel Grau Coliseum on Thursday.

Yokaty Perez, captain of Dominican Republic: We started with too many mistakes, we were so nervous, that’s why we lost the first set. From the second set, we served strong and took advantage of Cuba’s flaws to finally get the win.

Diaris Perez, captain of Cuba: Dominica Republic is a strong team. We made too many mistakes in serve and attack, we were anxious and this complicated us in the most important moments.

Alexandre Ceccato, coach Dominican Republic: Both teams have similar playing style, we both tried to take the advantage based on the difficulties we have in reception, but this time we could capture the triumph. These types of matches are a learning experience and help us improve.

Tomas Fernandez, couch of Cuba: It was a tight game; both teams make a lot of unforced errors. We made a plan but the players failed to comply, they are young and need to be trained.
