Big serves take USA to Final Four Round

USA domiated Germany 10-3 in the blocking category

Lima, Peru, August 14, 2015 – The solid and powerful serves proved to be the main weapon for United States in their dominant victory over Germany during their quarterfinals match.

James Stone, coach of United States: This is the first time we play against Germany. We knew they have good attack so that’s why we tried to be effective with our serves and reception.

Kathryn Plummer, captain of United States: They are a good team. We tried to improve our reception and also moved very fast so they couldn’t read our plays.

Jens Tietbohl, coach of Germany: United States played a great match. It looked like they had us under control since they anticipated our attacks. We lacked the strength and energy of the early matches in the tournament and that’s why we were not able to bounce back.

Pia Leweling, captain of Germany: The team was all right despite the difficulties with the serves and the reception. I hope we can improve that for tomorrow’s match. This World Championship has been a unique experience. I take with me the best from each game.
