China reserve “A” game for Russia

China's Wu Han shows her emotions after the dominant victory over Russia

Lima, Peru, August 14, 2015 – China reserved their best game for the match against Russia and completely dominated the European champions with solid blocking and a variety of attacks in their quarterfinals clash.

Shen Mang, coach of China: We prepared very well and expected to win the match. The blocking and the attack were better than in our previous matches.  Now that we are in the semifinals we hope to repeat today’s performance and keep the title as champions we won in 2013.

Li Yingying, the top scorer of China: We have trained very hard to win and the results are showing. I am confident that we are going to get another straight-set victory similar to the one we got today.

Svetlana Safronova, coach of Russia: Our players never got going. They didn’t give all they have and never played the way they should. We battled in each set but it was not enough.

Daria Ryseva, captain of Russia: We are very sad with the loss. I think we could have played better but China is a very strong opponent and it was very hard for us to find our rhythm.
