Japan edged Brazil and will play for ninth place

 

Callao, Peru, August 15, 2015 – Japan overcomes Brazil 3-1 (21-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-18) and tomorrow will play against Argentina for the ninth place of the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U18 World Championship.

The Asians held a 9-4 margin in aces. They also made fewer errors 21 to 29 by the opponents. Miyuki Horie was the best scorer for the winning team with 18 points, followed by Air Kurogo with 16. Beatriz Carvlho and Nyeme Alexandre had 18 points each one in the loss side.

Brazil dominated the start of the game and lead the technical times out by 8-7 and 16-12. Japan's defence could not contain the explosive attacks of Brazil´s Nyeme Alexandre, who closed the first set 25-21.

In the second set was Japan that took the lead of the game, with a technical and aggressive serve controlled the actions of The South American and won the set 25-21 with an outstanding performance of the wing spiker Ai Kurogo.

Due to problems in reception Brazil struggled to structure their attacks. The Asians were always leading the score (8-4, 16-14). With great performances of MiyuNakagawa and Miyu ki Horie closed the third set 25-23.

The Japanese used to play with the support of local fans, feeling confident and quickly took control of the fourth set 17-10. Brazil tried to stay in the game, however the multiple combinations of Japan ended the final set by 25- 18.
