Orthmann scores 20 in Germany win over Poland

 

The attack of Germany was very strong and dominated the first two sets by big margin

Lima, Peru, August 9, 2015 – Germany beat Poland 3-1 (25-11, 25-12, 20-25, 25-16) for their second victory without losses in Pool B of the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U18 World Championship at Eduardo Dibos Coliseum on Sunday.

Hanna Orthmann led the way for Germany with 20 points, all but one with spikes. Three other Germans also reached double digits in the scores with Sindy Lenz contributing 16 and Sabrina Krause and Merle Weidt 10 points apiece.
 
Aleksandra Rasinska and Oliwia Michalak finished with 13 and 10 points, respectively, for Poland.

Germany outscored Poland in spikes 51-35, blocks 11-3 and aces 8-5.

Germany demolished Poland 25-11 in the first set that lasted 21 minutes. They finished on a roll after the 16-10 score at the second technical time-out.

Things didn’t change in the second set with the Germans closing 25-12 when the serve of Polish Feduso sailed long.

Poland improved their game dramatically in the third set and didn’t relinquish the advantage despite a late effort by the German side.  It was 25-20.

The German side regained composure in the fourth set with dynamic Agbortabi back into action winning 25-16 in 20 minutes.
