Russia finishes in seventh place

 

Callao, Peru, August 16, 2015 – Russia defeated Poland 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-16) in the match for the seventh place of the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U18 World Championship at Miguel Grau Coliseum of Callao on Sunday.

Angelina Lazarenko and Maria Voroyeba topped Russia with 17 and 14 points, respectively, while Aleksandra Rasinska and Natalia Murek finished with 11 and 8 for Poland.

The winners held advantages in attacks (29-22), blocks (8-3) and aces (13-6) while benefitting from 25 unforced errors committed by the losers only making 17 of their own.

With an amazing performance of the middleblocker Angelina Lazarenko, Russia controlled the polish game and closed the first set 25 -14, the game finished with an spike point form Ksenia Smirnova.

Poland had many troubles in the reception and their defense never worked, that complicated the job of setter Agata Michalewicz. Russia took advantage of these problems and held the technical time outs with the score 8-6 and 16 -8, finally they won the second set 25- 18.

With a powerful serve, Russia led the entire third set, and taking advantage of the continuing mistakes in the polish side they led the set from start to end, finally the game finished with a serving error from Aleksandra Rasinka giving Russia the point 25 over 16.

Russia won 3 – 0, taking the 7th place.
