Super duo powers China to victory

 

Wu Han contributed a match-high 24 points in the victory over Thailand on Sunday

Lima, Peru, August 9, 2015 – Wu Han and Li Yingying combined their firepower to carry China to a 3-1 (28-26, 25-13, 23-25, 25-16) victory over Thailand in Pool B of the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U18 World Championship at Eduardo Dibos Coliseum of Lima on Sunday.

It was the second victory for China in as many games while Thailand remained winless at 0-3.

Wu finished with 24 points, including four blocks, while Li contributed 19 points to the victory. Qiian Jingwen finished with 13 despite being rested in the third set. Juangjan Kanittha topped Thailand with 18 points and Srithong Wipawee added 13 in the loss.

China outscored Thailand 17-2 in blocks and 11-4 in aces.

China came back from a 16-11 deficit o take the first set 28-26 with a big spike from Li Yingying.

The defending champions were in full control of the second set leading 8-4 and 16-10 before closing it at 25-13.

Thailand tied the score at 15-all in the third set but Li Yingying kept China in front at the pause with another blast.
Wipawee gave Thailand the lead at 24-23 and they won the set in the next play 25-23 via opponent error at the net.

The fourth set was for China from first to last whistle concluding 25-16 with Wu providing the fuel.
