“They played better than us at the net” – Poland coach

Serbia's Anja Asonja blocks Poland's Natalia Murek

Lima, Peru, August 7, 2015 – Serbia totaled 18 blocks en route to a 3-0 victory over Poland at Eduardo Dibos Coliseum on Friday morning.

Jovo Cakovic, coach of Serbia: The key for us today was the blocking but we can play better. It is our first match and the team is still adjusting after a very long trip. Our team was the second best in Europe and we know the European teams but don’t know much about the rest. Today we played just good enough to win.

Andrzej Pec, coach of Poland: They played better than us at the net. Congratulations to Serbia for the victory. I hope we can play better in the next matches.

Katarina Lazovic, captain of Serbia: In the third set the difference was that some substitute players received the chance to play and the score was closer. The first match is always difficult but we managed to get the win 3-0.

Natalia Murek, captain of Poland: We played better in the third set and I think we can increase our level in the next matches. The Serbia team deserved to win.
