Callao, Peru, August 11, 2015 – USA overcame 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-19) victory over Belgium. The American side improved to 3-1 win-loss in Pool C of the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U18 World Championship at Miguel Grau on Tuesday.
The Americans committed 19 unforced errors to 22 by the defeated side; held 8-4 margin in blocks, 38-31 in attacks and in service winners 7-5.
The winners had a balanced offense led by Alexis Dawn with 16 points while Kathryn Plummer and contributed 14 points in the victory. Britt Herbots and Manon Stragier had 9 and were the top scorers of Belgium.
Based on the quick game, the Americans dominated from start to finish of the first set and used many combinations that caused many difficulties to Belgium; another unforced error close the set 25-13
The second set was more tight, the setter and captain of Belgium, Charlotte Coppin was inspired, after amazing rallies USA won a dramatic set 25-23
Belgium risks during the third set and The Americans made some unforced mistakes but it was not enough to overcome one of the solid teams of this competition, USA closed 25-19.
