Italy sweeps Brazil to stay undefeated in Pool D

 

Callao, Peru, August 10, 2015 – Italy added another victory in straight set by defeating Brazil (25-14, 25-16, 25-19) in the first match of the day in Pool D of the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U18 World Championship at Miguel Grau on Monday.
Italy was the superior team in attacks (36-28) and blocking (14-1) and also made 18 errors 2 more than Brazil.
Paola Egonu was the offensive star for Italy with 15 points, including 11 attacks and 3 aces, followed by Vittoria Piani with 10 points in the victory. Beatriz Carvalho was the best scorers for Brazil with 10 points.
The Europeans dominated at the net with strong blocks of Alessia Mazzaro stops Brazil and close the first set 25- 14.
The second set was very similar, Italy was wining more confidence and lead another easily set (10-4, 16-8). Luizomar de Moura, coach of Brazil, never found a way to stop their opponent and Italy resolved the set 25-16.The final set was more equilibrated, the left hander Beatriz Carvalho of Brazil seeking to keep her team at the game, but could not prevent Italy close the match 25-19 with a block Karina Barbosa
